    Ready To Learn Programming (RTL)

    This is the beloved Ready To Learn program, which historically has been competed every five years, with CPB/PBS as the biggest recipient, managing smaller grants and outreach efforts by local public television stations. The competition is open once again, and public television stations producing nationally distributed early education content, or a coalition of stations doing so, are eligible to apply. Deadline: July 8, 2026.

    Collections Stewardship

    Up to $350,000 over 3 years is available from NEH to create and implement training programs for staff members of cultural institutions. Consortia of organizations are eligible for up to $500,000. Smaller planning grants are also available. Stations with experience in digitally preserving recorded sound and moving image collections may find a fit here. This grant program now has two annual deadlines, in May and December.

    LABF provides $2,500 mini-grants to assist stations in preserving broadcast history. The 2026 grant cycle has closed. The deadline was January 15, 2026.

    Celebrating America250: Arts Projects Honoring the National Garden of American Heroes

    NEA will award $25,000 grants (no match required) to create art about one of the historical figures listed in the recent executive order for the Garden of American Heroes (includes figures such as Harriet Tubman, Benjamin Franklin, Sacagawea, Frank Lloyd Wright and many others).     Public Impact Projects Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary

    NEH Public Impact Projects are designed to support public-facing humanities organizations as they use scholarship to inform the stories that they tell to the public. In this case, all projects will focus on the founding of the United States and the interpretation of the Declaration of Independence. Up to $200,000 over 2 years is available for projects including podcasts, virtual tours, and curriculum resources. The 2025 round is now closed. The deadline was July 7 2025

    Celebrate America!

    New NEH matching grants will provide up to $25,000 for celebrations of the nation’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026. NEH anticipates making 250 awards. Allowable activities could include screenings, community events, digital content, educational content, teacher training and documentary work. The deadline for submitting applications is May 31, 2026.

    CLIR's Recordings at Risk grant program awards $10,000 - $50,000 to preserve "at-risk" recorded content. We expect to see the next round open in the fall of 2026.

    The American Revolution Initiative (PBS)

    Up to $45,000 is available for station grants from PBS LearningMedia. Stations may seek funding to create classroom content for PBS LearningMedia, host in-person teacher learning events, or both. The target audience for content and activities created from the education grants are teachers of grades 3-12, especially those teaching U.S. history, civics and English language arts. This grant is now closed. The deadline was February 28, 2025.

    Press Forward Infrastructure Open Call

    The second open call from Press Forward (the $500 million funding collaborative that aims to support local news) focuses on strengthening the infrastructure in newsrooms. They are looking for scalable, replicable or new solutions to common challenges to sustainably creating and disseminating local news. 20-30 grants ranging $500,000 - $1.5 million are available to stations alone or as part of a collaboration. LOIs were due January 15, 2025, and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. This open call is now closed.

    Executive Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative

    50 six-month fellowships are available to station managers of CSG-qualified public broadcasting stations through a partnership between CPB and Poynter. The program is designed to strengthen editorial leadership and provide custom instruction on how to build capacity within public media.This grant is now closed. The last deadline was December 6, 2024.
