Membership
Since its creation in 1979, America's Public Television Stations (APTS) has represented the nation’s public television stations. APTS was founded by the stations in order for them to have a representative voice in Washington DC – an organization that would work to ensure that the stations’ interests were served in advocating to Congress, the FCC and other federal agencies. In addition to this important advocacy mission, APTS has also been a proponent of sound business strategies critical to the future of public television.
APTS member stations pay annual service fees to support the work of the organization. The organization’s annual goal is to include all CPB-qualified licensees as members.
APTS members play a leading role in developing our legislative agenda and regulatory policies. APTS seeks member input to set our platform on topics such as spectrum repacking, wireless devices, CPB reauthorization and digital carriage agreements.
APTS continues its commitment to keeping stations and their boards involved in every level of advocacy, including funding opportunities and coalition initiatives. Through this website, APTS hopes to greatly increase the accessibility and quality of our consultations and communications with our member stations.
