WTIU Broadcasts a Documentary on the Construction of an Influential Highway through Indiana

WTIU, public television for Bloomington, Indiana, recently broadcast a 60-minute documentary I-69, Are We There Yet?, on the building of I-69, which routes from Port Huron, Michigan, south through Indiana, to Brownsville Texas. The television program was also broadcast on WTUI’s sister station, WFIU, and has been shown by stations all along the route.

The interstate, which the U.S. Department of Transportation calls one of America’s six Corridors of the Future, is intended to facilitate trade with Canada and Mexico.

The highway has been controversial in Indiana because of its use of untouched terrain and its potential environmental impact.
