Since WGBH’s first broadcast in 1951, it has been doing an exemplary job in delivering free over-the-air media to the citizens of Massachusetts. WGBH is one of public television’s largest producers of programming and web content. WGBH’s leadership in creating high quality educational programming for children is complimented by its efforts to actively engage its community in utilizing these valuable resources. WGBH Kids 24/7 is a live stream of WGBH's award-winning content for parents and children, including Arthur, Sesame Street, Ready Jet Go!, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Cyberchase and Clifford the Big Red Dog. WGBH also partners with the city of Boston in the evening, Boston Kids & Family TV airs adult educational programs such as Connect with English, TV411 and Destinos.
WGBH is committed to delivering over-the-air broadcasting that ensures the availability of its educational services to all viewers and listeners regardless of income level. In addition, WGBH is so committed to education and literacy that they gave 5,000 books to the City of Boston’s Read Boston Storymobile Program. Proponents of keeping children’s minds active through the monotonous days of summer, WGBH supports summer reading and offers an array of engaging titles for children on its website.
WGBH also was an early provider of high definition broadcast and has continued this tradition by being among the first broadcasters of Mobile DTV - beginning with its first broadcast in 2009.
