APTS Statement on Nomination of Rosenworcel and Carr to FCC

WASHINGTON, D.C. - June 29, 2017 - Patrick Butler, president and chief executive officer of America's Public Television Stations (APTS), issued the following statement following the nomination of Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel and Brendan Carr to serve as Commissioners of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC):

"America’s Public Television Stations commend President Trump for his nominations of former Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel and FCC General Counsel Brendan Carr to serve as Commissioners of the FCC. We are pleased to have a good relationship with Commissioner Rosenworcel, who has a strong understanding of public broadcasting issues. And we look forward to working with Mr. Carr in his new position to further public television’s public service missions in education, public safety and civic leadership. We are hopeful that these nominations will be quickly confirmed by the Senate, and that a full Commission will work expeditiously to approve the Next Generation broadcast standard, ensure a smooth post-auction channel repacking process, and reform the regulatory structure to reflect the realities of the 21st century.”
