APTS Promotes Veteran Staff Members

WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 6, 2023 – America’s Public Television Stations today announced the promotions of several veteran staff members.

Kenneth Blunt has been promoted to Senior Director, Information Technology and Media Production. Mr. Blunt joined APTS in 2002, and he has responsibilities ranging from the APTS information technology infrastructure to the corporate website to graphics and media production.

Jennifer Kieley has been promoted to Senior Director, Government Relations. Ms. Kieley joined APTS in 2006, and her responsibilities include advocating for public television on Capitol Hill and with federal agencies on a wide range of topics including, federal appropriations, telecommunications, education, public safety and other issues.

Stacey Karp has been promoted to Senior Director, Communications. Ms. Karp joined APTS in 2009, and her responsibilities include media relations, management of the APTS website, the What Works best practices toolkit, and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative. She was also the leader of 170 Million Americans for Public Broadcasting, the grassroots advocacy forerunner of Protect My Public Media.

Joyce Burgess Schwarz has been promoted to Director, Administrative Services and Events. Ms. Schwarz has served APTS for over 30 years, and her responsibilities include event planning, database management, office administration and financial duties.

Tammye Heatley has been promoted to Director, Human Resources and Legal Services. Ms. Heatley joined APTS in 2000, and her responsibilities include human resources, benefits administration, payroll, legal and regulatory filings, and board elections.

Tela Hansom-Pitt has been promoted to Director, Membership Services and Marketing. Ms. Hansom-Pitt joined APTS in 2002, and her responsibilities include APTS's coalitions, associate membership, event sponsorship, board liaison and managing the executive office.

Caitlin Beroza has been promoted to Director, Digital Advocacy. Ms. Beroza joined APTS in 2011, and she is responsible for management of the 750,000-member Protect My Public Media grassroots advocacy network and social media platforms.

Colleen Florio has been promoted to Director, Government Relations. Ms. Florio joined APTS in 2019, and her responsibilities include Capitol Hill advocacy on appropriations, education, public safety and other issues important to public television.
