WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 7, 2023 – America’s Public Television Stations (APTS) today praised the confirmation of Anna Gomez to serve as a commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC):
“America’s Public Television Stations congratulate Anna Gomez on her confirmation as a member of the Federal Communications Commission,” said APTS president and CEO Patrick Butler.
“Commissioner Gomez brings an impressive background in public service and in the private sector to her new role. We are delighted that someone with such an extensive experience in communication policy issues, spectrum management and public safety communications will bring the Commission to its full complement of five commissioners,” Butler said.
“We look forward to working with Commissioner Gomez and the entire Commission,” Butler said, “to advance public television’s missions of education, public safety and civic leadership — and particularly to demonstrating how public television datacasting and the NEXTGEN TV ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard can help bridge the digital divide, revolutionize remote learning, make public safety communications more reliable and robust, and enable a host of new services for the American people.”
