America’s Public Television Stations Statement on the Death of Honey Alexander

WASHINGTON - October 31, 2022 - Patrick Butler, president and chief executive officer of America’s Public Television Stations (APTS), made the following statement today on the passing of Honey Alexander.

“America’s Public Television Stations mourn the loss of Honey Alexander, a former vice chair of the board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and a staunch supporter of our public service mission for decades.

“Honey’s quiet but effective influence helped public broadcasters broaden and deepen their appeal across the political spectrum, to rural and urban audiences, and especially to families with young children. She was a champion of children first to last, and that legacy will endure for all time.

“On a personal level, I was privileged to know Honey for more than 40 years and to serve with her on the board of the National Archives Foundation and in political enterprises as well as in support of public television. She was an astute business executive, a leader in many civic and philanthropic causes, a devoted mother to four fine children and the best life partner Lamar Alexander could have possibly hoped for.

“We will all miss her, but we are all the better for her being with us for so long.”
