The American Revolution Initiative (PBS)

Up to $45,000 is available for station grants from PBS LearningMedia. Stations may seek funding to create classroom content for PBS LearningMedia, host in-person teacher learning events, or both. The target audience for content and activities created from the education grants are teachers of grades 3-12, especially those teaching U.S. history, civics and English language arts. Press Forward Infrastructure Open Call

The second open call from Press Forward (the $500 million funding collaborative that aims to support local news) focuses on strengthening the infrastructure in newsrooms. They are looking for scalable, replicable or new solutions to common challenges to sustainably creating and disseminating local news. 20-30 grants ranging $500,000 - $1.5 million are available to stations alone or as part of a collaboration. LOIs are due January 15, 2025, and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. -

Executive Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative

50 six-month fellowships are available to station managers of CSG-qualified public broadcasting stations through a partnership between CPB and Poynter. The program is designed to strengthen editorial leadership and provide custom instruction on how to build capacity within public media.This grant is now closed. Juneteenth Open House Events

In this brand new grant program, NEH will award $30,000 grants for public events tied to Juneteenth Open House events that explore African American history and culture. Next Generation Warning System Grant Program (NGWSGP)

This new infrastructure program for public broadcasters was created by the Department of Homeland Security's FEMA and will be run by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Public television and radio stations will compete for grants to upgrade their technology and provide accompanying training. Round 2 closed on September 12, 2024. The funding for round 3 has already been appropriated and should see a competition in 2025. -

These PBS station engagement grants will award $10,000 - $20,000 for work that fosters community-level connections ad amplifies the stories of localized efforts related to elections and civics. Press Forward Local Journalism Open Call

Press Forward is a $500 million philanthropic collaboration to re-imagine local news. This is their first open call, targeting long-standing inequalities in journalistic coverage of underserved communities. 100+ newsrooms will receive $100,000 in general operating support over 2 years. The open call on closing local coverage gaps is now closed. The next competition is expected in the fall of 2024. -

Public television stations active in early childhood education can apply to be in this second cohort of CPB-funded Ready To Learn State Projects. In this 18-month project, stations will collaborate with state-level partners to extend the impact of RTL work. stations from all states except Texas, Florida, New York, California, Wisconsin and Maryland are eligible to apply. MacKenzie Scott's Yield Giving Open Call will award $1 million in unrestricted funds to 250 community-led, community-focused nonprofits with budgets between $1 million and $5 million.
