Celebrate America!

New NEH matching grants will provide up to $25,000 for celebrations of the nation’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026. NEH anticipates making 250 awards. Allowable activities could include screenings, community events, digital content, educational content, teacher training and documentary work. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. -

American Graduate: Jobs Explained 2.0

With CPB funding, WNET opens the second round of American Jobs Explained. Ten television stations will be chosen to join this innovative program connecting young people to new career pathways through social media videos. Stations receive support in media production and fundraising, along with a $90,000 grant. This competition is now closed. The deadline was February 21, 2025. -

The American Revolution Initiative (PBS)

Up to $45,000 is available for station grants from PBS LearningMedia. Stations may seek funding to create classroom content for PBS LearningMedia, host in-person teacher learning events, or both. The target audience for content and activities created from the education grants are teachers of grades 3-12, especially those teaching U.S. history, civics and English language arts. This grant is now closed. The deadline was February 28, 2025. -

Press Forward Infrastructure Open Call

The second open call from Press Forward (the $500 million funding collaborative that aims to support local news) focuses on strengthening the infrastructure in newsrooms. They are looking for scalable, replicable or new solutions to common challenges to sustainably creating and disseminating local news. 20-30 grants ranging $500,000 - $1.5 million are available to stations alone or as part of a collaboration. LOIs were due January 15, 2025, and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. This open call is now closed. -

Executive Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative

50 six-month fellowships are available to station managers of CSG-qualified public broadcasting stations through a partnership between CPB and Poynter. The program is designed to strengthen editorial leadership and provide custom instruction on how to build capacity within public media.This grant is now closed. The last deadline was December 6, 2024. -

Juneteenth Open House Events

In this brand new grant program, NEH will award $30,000 grants for public events tied to Juneteenth Open House events that explore African American history and culture. Suggested activities include documentary screenings followed by group discussions. UPDATE 11-10-2024 The NEH decided not to open this competition at this time. -

Next Generation Warning System Grant Program (NGWSGP)
07/01/24
This new infrastructure program for public broadcasters was created by the Department of Homeland Security's FEMA and will be run by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Public television and radio stations will compete for grants to upgrade their technology and provide accompanying training. Round 2 closed on September 12, 2024. The funding for round 3 has already been appropriated and should see a competition in 2025. -

Elections and Civics: Station Engagement Grants

These PBS station engagement grants will award $10,000 - $20,000 for work that fosters community-level connections ad amplifies the stories of localized efforts related to elections and civics. Applicants may apply in one of three categories: content creation, community engagement and education. This grant is now closed.
