Dan Sanchez became Senior Director of Government Relations at America’s Public Television Stations (APTS) in July 2026.
Previously, Sanchez served as Senior Director of Government Affairs at PBS, where he worked on annual federal appropriations and education policy, including early childhood education initiatives.
At PBS, working closely with APTS, Sanchez helped extend the Ready To Learn grant program through the reauthorization of the Every Student Succeeds Act and has continued to help secure annual congressional funding for the program. Across his advocacy work, he consistently focused on close collaboration with local stations to keep stories of community impact central in outreach to Congressional offices and committees. In addition to advising on strategic communications, he helped organize events on and off Capitol Hill that engaged Congressional leaders and key stakeholders in the areas of early childhood education, U.S. culture and history, and environmental issues. He also supported planning and preparation for the PBS Board of Directors, including presentations on post-election impacts and education policy advocacy.
Before his public media work, Sanchez spent 10 years on Capitol Hill working for members of the House Appropriations Committee, including U.S. Representatives Peter Visclosky, Julian Dixon and Dave Obey.
Sanchez holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Indiana University.
