As part of our continuing efforts to assist local stations in securing money through the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), APTS is convening a series of targeted working groups open to all APTS member stations. To launch this project, APTS will host a series of online station consultation from March 31 through April 3 as follows:
Education and Teacher Training
Tuesday, March 31 from 2:00-3:30 Eastern, APTS will host a station consultation to develop a strategy for stations, individually or as consortia, to seek grants through the Department of Education and state stabilization programs. ARRA provided $650 million for grants to support projects that have been proven effective in improving student achievement through the use of technology, in improving teacher quality, and in integrating of technology with both teacher training and curriculum development. We will also discuss opportunities for stations to apply for grants through $25 million in funding ARRA allocated to the National Science Foundation to support innovative partnerships to improve K-12 student achievement in mathematics and science.
