ideastream Operates Public Television Station WVIZ/PBS and Public Radio Station 90.3 WCPN in Cleveland, Ohio
ideastream is the new name of the company that was formed when public broadcasting stations being used often on WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN created a new organization to serve Northeast Ohio with distinctive, thought-provoking programming and services. Four years ago, ideastream initiated a longitudinal community research exercise, The Listening Project, to seek a better understanding of Northeast Ohio's assets and challenges - as defined by residents of the area - allowing ideastream, then a new public media organization, to better serve its community.
In 2001, ideastream talked with over 7,000 Northeast Ohio residents to establish the parameters for its research. Since 2001, hundreds of individuals have been invited to participate in The Listening Project research.
In January 2005, ideastream conducted the fourth Listening Project. In previous years the survey was conducted during autumn months. However, for its fourth iteration, the Project was delayed until January to avoid the influence of the 2004 Presidential Election. Please visit The Listening Project (http://www.wcpn.org/specials/lp/) to download a copy of the report.
Support for The Listening Project has come from The Cleveland Foundation, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, The George Gund Foundation, and The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
