Kate Riley joined America’s Public Television Stations (APTS) in May 2010. As vice president, government and public affairs, Riley manages congressional relations, state government liaison, the organization’s work with federal departments and agencies, communications, grassroots and grasstops advocacy, and strategic partnerships.

Prior to joining APTS, Riley served as legislative director for Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Calif. Her responsibilities included creating and implementing a comprehensive legislative strategy, overseeing appropriations activity, managing the legislative staff and directly handling a number of issues, including telecommunications, technology, taxes and transportation. Before being promoted to legislative director, Riley was Rep. Sanchez’s Homeland Security legislative assistant, handling all issues in the jurisdiction of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Rep. Sanchez’s work as chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Border, Maritime and Global Counterterrorism. Previously, Riley worked for Rep. Sam Farr, D-Calif., as a legislative assistant handling some Appropriations Committee work.

Riley graduated cum laude from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science, Spanish and writing intensive English.
