WSIU Public Broadcasting, based at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, turns the spotlight on the unique people, places, events and issues of its five-state service region in the weekly half-hour television series WSIU InFocus.
Co-hosts George Norwood and Roz Rice feature a combination of field-produced and in-studio segments covering topics that include the arts and education, family and community, regional history and cultural identity, and news and public affairs. The show airs Thursday nights at 9:30 p.m., Friday nights at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
A recent episode about Community Supported Agriculture discusses how it was started in the 80s and continues to become more popular. Customers buy "shares" in a farm and receive a portion of the harvest throughout the season. It gives the farmers influx of funds at the beginning of the season and lets them spend more time on the farm. It also gives customers the opportunity to get to know who produces the food they eat.
Also, watch an interview with U.S. Rep. John Shimkus and U.S. Rep. Mike Bost as they discuss the first 100 days of President Trump and Issues surrounding Southern Illinois and the nation.
