America’s Public Television Stations Statement on the Passing of Lloyd Morrisett

WASHINGTON – January 24, 2023 – Patrick Butler, president and chief executive officer of America’s Public Television Stations (APTS), made the following statement today on the passing of Lloyd Morrisett.

“America’s Public Television Stations join his legion of admirers in mourning the passing of Lloyd Morrisett, one of the founders of Children’s Television Workshop and a true pioneer in applying the power of television to the joy of learning for America’s youngest children.

“Thanks to Mr. Morrisett and Joan Ganz Cooney, public television has helped hundreds of millions of young people get ready to learn in school and succeed in life. And we are honored to continue that work today and tomorrow.

“There can be no finer or more useful legacy than that, and though we are saddened by his parting, we will always celebrate the noble life and surpassing contribution of Lloyd Morrisett.”
