PUBLIC BROADCASTING ATLANTA OFFERS HOMEWORK HELP FOR K-12 STUDENTS

Public Broadcasting Atlanta Offers Homework Help For K-12 Students

Through combined efforts of Atlanta Public Schools and Public Broadcasting Atlanta’s (PBA) E-Learning Cyber Center, the Homework Hotline has served as a free resource for Atlanta students from Kindergarten through 12th grade since 2002. This program is a telephone and web-based tutoring service that provides homework assistance to students in all core subject areas including language arts, math, history and science. Homework Hotline also features a Spanish language tutor who helps translate and assist English language learners in all subjects.

Teachers for Homework Hotline

Students call or email questions about their homework problems and Homework Hotline teachers provide them with personalized, one-on-one assistance. The teachers who work with this program are board-certified and have access to current textbooks and school curricula, making them a reliable source of help for students of any grade level. When students have this opportunity to work through problems at their own pace with the direct attention of a teacher, they may begin to apply a similar learning process across other areas of their education as well.

PBA has reached such high levels of success with this program due in part to their partnership with the Chick-Fil-A Foundation. Additional funding from the Chick-Fil-A Foundation has enabled PBA to purchase new computers, develop a new website and add other online tools to enhance and strengthen the digital experience of Homework Hotline. PBA hopes to use Homework Hotline to encourage a lifelong love of learning in every child, inspire independence in problem-solving and help students become prepared for their future roles in both the community and working environments.

The Homework Hotline runs from 4:00-9:00 p.m. every Monday through Thursday. Check out one of Homework Hotline’s math tutorial videos below.
