IQ Learning Network Promotes Lifelong Learning Through Engaging Projects

“I teach. I learn. IQ,” the slogan for Alabama Public Television’s (APT) IQ Learning Network program, highlights the interconnectedness of teaching and learning throughout all stages of life. This all-encompassing initiative offers resources for parents, teachers, children and adult learners ranging from information on Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to contacts for Early Childhood Learning workshops.

GED resources and projects within the Learning Network such as Workplace Essential Skills give adults of all ages assurance that it’s never too late to pursue any degree of education or a career. The IQ Learning Network also promotes ways to keep children engaged even when they aren’t in school. APT features ideas from the PBS Kids Summer Adventures and created the seasonal #myjourneyproud social media tag that keeps kids actively learning during the summer.

Another project that APT has recently incorporated into the Learning Network is the Learning Adventures Field Trips. These are webcasts that are produced once every school year and are designed to be live-streamed and to feature interactivity at specific, scheduled times. The field trips have different destinations and content based on the grade levels of each target audience. Cindy Kirk, Vice President of Educational Services at APT, noted that three million children have participated in the Learning Adventures Field Trips since 2011. All of the webcasts are archived on APT’s IQ Learning Network website and anyone can view them for free.
