The Knight Foundation was the top funder of journalism and public media between 2014-2018, according to Inside Philanthropy. They invest in local journalism, as well as tools to improve revenue generation for journalism, combating misinformation, schools of journalism, and reaching underserved audiences. Giving is limited to the 26 designated Knight Communities.
